The Komarno shipbuilding tradition dates back to the end of the 19th century, when the first local shipyard was founded to offer simple repairs of river ships and barges. Since then, generations of shipbuilders have constructed more than 1,900 sea and river-going vessels of various types, including passenger ships, tankers, bucket-dredgers, multi-purpose cargo ships, tug boats, and barges.
