The Yokohama Dockyard & Machinery Works reaches its history back to 1891 with the establishment of Yokohama Dock Company, Ltd. Originally set up for the purpose of ship repairs, the company later extended its business line to include shipbuilding and machinery production. In 1935, Yokohama Dock Company was merged with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries.
Our advanced technologies and abundant experience in ship repair for LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) ships, naval vessels, ferries, passenger ships, and marine structures, together with our expertise in periodic and intermediate inspections and various types of construction, help us maintain our steady track record as one of the best in the industry.
This is the largest facility run by a dedicated ship repair yard in Japan. It has three dry docks, 7 piers, and 7 jib cranes.
The dock can accommodate huge ships up to the 270,000 ton class. The pier can moor ships with drafts of up to 12 meters.
