Vard Tulcea continues to be, 14 years after is was privatised, the largest private employer in the county, having registered through its activity a few significant firsts for the shipbuilding industry of Romania. A ship initially built in Tulcea (eastern Romania) and then completed in a Norwegian yard Vard Tulcea SA has recently been in the focus of the international media.
